Turks Head - Hasketon
Tucked away in the peaceful village of Hasketon, Turks Head - Hasketon offers a countryside dining experience that’s equal parts charming and culinary. Just a short drive from Woodbridge, this gastropub-style restaurant brings together traditional British fare with a few modern, global surprises. Whether you're out for a relaxed lunch, planning a special dinner, or just chasing the perfect Sunday roast, this place knows how to deliver with heart and soul.
From the moment you arrive on Low Road, the setting feels like something out of a rustic postcard-complete with a wheelchair-accessible car park and welcoming entrance that makes the space inclusive and easy to navigate. The building itself has retained its classic character, yet once you step inside, you're greeted by a cozy atmosphere with a fireplace that adds to its countryside charm. It’s the kind of place that invites you to slow down, sip a glass of wine, and let the afternoon drift by.
The menu at Turks Head - Hasketon leans heavily on locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients, and it shows. If you’re here on a Sunday, you’re in for a treat-Sunday Roasts are the star of the show. The Roast Beef Dinner comes generously portioned, with crispy roast potatoes, fluffy Yorkshire pudding, and rich gravy that ties it all together. Those who prefer lamb will appreciate the Lamb Rump, served pink with a herby crust and seasonal greens that elevate the entire plate.
For those in the mood for something heartier, the Chicken & Chorizo Pie is a warm, comfort-filled hug on a plate-flaky pastry, succulent filling, and just enough spice from the chorizo to make it interesting. The Pork Belly, with its crisp crackling and melt-in-the-mouth meat, is another standout that regularly wins praise from locals and visitors alike.
Seafood lovers aren't left out either. The Fish and Chips hit all the right notes-lightly battered, golden, and paired with proper thick-cut chips. But it’s the Whitebait and Mackerel Pate starters that showcase the kitchen’s attention to detail and love for bold, clean flavours.
There's a quiet creativity on the menu too. You’ll find unexpected delights like the Tandoori Duck Starter or a well-crafted Tempeh Steak, catering to those seeking vegetarian or globally inspired options. And if you’re just dropping in for a light bite or drink, the small plates, healthy options, and quick bites make this a versatile spot for all dining styles.
Drink-wise, Turks Head - Hasketon doesn’t disappoint. The beer list is thoughtfully curated, offering a mix of craft ales and well-known favorites, and the wine list is surprisingly robust for a country pub. There’s also a range of spirits, gins, and cocktails, ideal for those looking to pair their meal with something stronger-or simply unwind with friends.
And yes, dessert is a must. The Sticky Toffee Pudding lives up to its reputation, rich and indulgent without being too heavy. For something a touch more elegant, try the Chocolate Brownie or a helping of Cobbler-each dessert is plated with care and served with a side of comfort. Pair your sweet ending with a cappuccino, tea, or even a cider if you’re in the mood.
What sets this restaurant apart, beyond the food, is its live music evenings and relaxed atmosphere. The addition of outdoor seating means you can enjoy the fresh Suffolk air while dining during warmer months. Whether you're dining solo, planning a romantic meal, or gathering with friends for a night out, Turks Head - Hasketon strikes that rare balance between down-to-earth warmth and elevated dining.
It’s not just about eating here-it’s about the full experience. The blend of hearty British classics, well-thought-out global touches, and a drink menu to match makes this spot a true hidden gem in Suffolk’s culinary landscape.

Wow, The perfect way to spend Mother’s Day. Superb menu, perfectly cooked, chef happy to make alterations to make your meal perfect for you. Staff very friendly and helpful and an absolute beautiful setting with tables well spaced out and very nice garden to sit in. I would definitely recommend this place for everyone. Very happy full Mummy
Visiting as part of a group of twelve, first impressions were very good indeed. A very friendly welcome from a bearded gent I took to be the manager and his young female waiting staff. Even a hiccup with a wheelchair-bound client, which necessitated a complete change of table, was quickly resolved, menus provided and drinks orders taken. The smiley, curly-haired young lady, who seemed to be our main server, read all the orders out and everyone seemed happy. Except, for some reason they sent out two starters at the same time as the rest of the mains (very odd) and seemed to have completely mislaid a lamb and a pork main course. You would have thought they would have noticed the omissions, but didn't. My roast beef with all the trimmings was both plentiful and excellent and there was a splendid choice of separately served vegetables, including cauliflower cheese. I would have preferred the gravy separately, rather than have everything swimming in it, but that's a minor issue. Surprisingly, sauces had to be asked for, rather than offered. The bearded man returned, rather brusquely, we thought, to take the dessert and coffee orders but even his method didn't work, with one wrong order and one extra portion. So, overall, a very nice place to eat, with some service issues that need addressing.
Under new management - Great kick off! Eating area decor and atmosphere very warm and tasteful. Every course was very tasty and despite being fancy style a la carte the portion sizes were perfect. Lovely bottle of red to go with it. Will be returning thanks!
A very nice gastro pub situated in the beautiful town of Woodbridge. Stunning walks and rustic aesthetic, this small town is well worth a visit. The Turks Head was a great place to stop for dinner with beautiful surroundings and clean, modern interior. It was a homely environment with a relaxing atmosphere. Service was slow to start but acceptable towards the end, with a great addition of the service team singing happy birthday to us as the desert came with a candle and a free glass of sparkling wine for the birthday boy. A beautiful touch that made our evening all the more special. The menu was superb. Small yet diverse, utilising locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. The starter, chicken strips, had to be the best chicken dish I can recall having. The perfectly seasoned panné was phenomenal with so much flavour, and crispiness. The chicken was moist and delicious and the most delightful coleslaw you’ve ever tasted. The main, a burger, was a flavour masterpiece of amazingly seasoned, perfectly cooked steak haché. Bacon, onion jam and cheese complimented each other exquisitely alongside the amazing pickled slaw. Desert, even with the added birthday treat, was a master peace of culinary skills. A perfect, Tonka bean brûlée and delicious plumb crumble finished the meal with great finesse. This pub was unfortunately let down by it’s very poor wine list. This for me, however, wasn’t a problem as I was drinking beer. One of the best gastro pub meals I’ve had in a very long time. Chef Rob really knows his food and can deliver superb quality. I highly recommend you to try his food; you will not be disappointed.
Popped in for lunch having not been in since new team took over and this place is definitely back on our list. Food was delicious, well presented and there are plenty of options. The team were engaging and welcoming and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. We look forward to our next visit.
